A glimpse of the water can be seen from halfway up Blue Hill. If I didn't know better, I might have mistaken this place for the San Juan Islands. A lone tall tree towers above the surrounding landscape. Above the treetops at Terra Nova. The interpretive sign made much of the weather at Terra Nova, but it was clear as a bell when I visited.

Disappointingly, I didn't see any icebergs during my trip. Just another spectacular view down the road from Blue Hill, Avalon National Park. There are boulders everywhere! This one was different than the usual slabs of granite, so I took a picture. Dozens of seaweed patches floated in the bay. I can only guess how amazing this would have looked from a boat! This was as close to the water as I dared to take my camera.

Patches of seaweed floating on the bay provided a unique contrast to the sun's reflection. Magnificient sunset just inside the boundary of Terra Nova National Park, near Eastport. The sunset bathed the surrounding forest in an orange hue. Most of the water is to the east, so it's hard to get a good sunset photo! A last peek at the sunset before it slipped beneath the hills.
